Top 3 Eye Treats for Mother’s Day
Being a mum is one of the toughest, most rewarding jobs out there. With Mother’s Day coming up next week, what better time to show your mum how grateful you are for all her hard work than splashing out on a pampering Mother’s Day gift.
Whether you’re shopping for your mum, grandma or mother-in-law, all mothers deserve a treat so we’ve compiled a list of thoughtful eye health treats for those mothers that will be sure to leave them happy all day.
- A pampering treat for the eyes
A trip to a spa can not only be expensive, but you never know if the products used are genuinely safe for your body. Good news: creating your own spa-like experience at home is super easy, luxurious and can be just as relaxing and beautifying as a day at the spa!
Start off by creating an ambient atmosphere for you and mum with some relaxing music, prepare a cleansing drink of refreshing warm, lemon water and begin with one of the most classic, but effective eye treatments around: cucumber. Cucumbers contain a high number of antioxidants that protect and rejuvenate our skin such as Vitamin C, to boost collagen and give you a youthful glow. Cucumber also contains natural silica, a key component in rebuilding damaged skin, so it is great for fighting wrinkles.
Begin by cutting four thin slices of raw, cold cucumber. Lie down and with the eyes closed, place one cucumber over each eyelid, then place the remaining two under the eyes. Whilst taking a much-needed siesta, the ascorbic acid in the cucumbers works to reduce water retention, helping to decrease overall puffiness.
- Get rid of eye bags
Mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes are common as you age, but did you know that once people are over the age of 40, they are more likely to develop Dry Eye and other related conditions such as Blepharitis and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction?
Back in 2004, a Consultant Ophthalmologist named Professor Teifi James decided that after many years of explaining how to use a hot flannel compresses to his patients, he created his own version of a warm compress: a re-usable product named EyeBag® which is heated in a microwave and placed on the eyes. It’s not only a perfect, relaxing, eye health treat, but it’s proven to dramatically reduce symptoms of the above eye conditions in just a few days. You can enquire about the EyeBag® in store.
- Make mum go starry-eyed
To help reduce signs of age and fatigue, there is one beauty product that can instantly make your mum’s eyes appear effortlessly bigger and brighter – mascara! But as well as contributing to all these positive things, remember that hanging on to old mascara isn’t doing your eyes any favours. Research has shown have that pathogens tend to hang out in eye makeup and mascara may be especially likely to cause eye infections. So, if your mum’s mascara is more than a few months old, a new tube of mascara could be the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
So, there you have it, thank your mum for all that she has done for you with some touching Mother’s Day gifts and remember that a pampered mum is a happy mum. Happy Mother’s Day to all you fantastic mums from all the team at
