Quintessentially British: Paul Smith Eyewear
Classic British Styles with a Twist!
‘Paul Smith’ was founded by Sir Paul Smith in 1970 when he opened his first store – Paul Smith “Vêtement Pour Homme” in Nottingham. He sold well established clothing labels, alongside pieces that he designed himself. The store was a mere three square meters and originally only sold men’s clothing. Six years later Paul decided to travel to Paris and showcase his men’s collection there. From that point onwards Paul Smith kept on growing as a brand and expanded into different territories around the world.
Paul Smith’s London store was opened in 1979 on Floral St in Covent Gardens – it remains one of the most iconic and flagship stores operated by Paul Smith. Nowadays the brand is well known for its creative aesthetics with a blend of British tradition and modernity for both women and men’s clothing and accessories – including the vast eyewear collection.
The Stripes
Stripes have been central to Paul Smith’s design work since the early days of the company. The Artist Stripe was inspired by the colour combinations of expressionist art. The Stripes are visible as a bold print or as a subtle detail on many of the pieces of clothing and accessories. The stripes on his clothing and accessories became an easily recognisable symbol around the world for Paul Smith.
Paul Smith Eyewear
Launched in 1994 and eventually licensed by Luxottica in 2007, the Paul Smith glasses brand includes both sunglasses and prescription frames. The Paul Smith Eyewear collection is manufactured in Italy and features frames made from high quality metals and Italian Mazzuchelli acetates. With a wide range of styles and shapes, they have something for even the pickiest individual. Many celebrities adore Paul Smith eyewear, names such as Beyonce, Katie Holmes and Kylie Jenner often make public appearances in Paul Smith glasses and shades.
